I cannot believe the art in front of me, pierces my eyes with such vigor and light! The painting itself presents a strange aura of uneasiness and angst. The complete transformation of two well-known Pokemon into human beings (somewhat) is staggering. The look, especially in Mew, truly reminds me of the mid to late 80s anime style that was oh-so-popular during its day, with the distinct hairstyle and serious face. Mewtwo himself has completely been revamped into a animal testing, girl touching, lab professor. Yet the characters portray such frailty, youth, and weakness that it contrasts so well from the original design. A superb job!
Oh, shhh, it's just the tail. Nothing more. (And I didn't mean the airbender, nyeh.) Whatcha got against the J.Cameron flic? Not criticising, just curious. Is it the pagan-ness? I s'pose that's what would get most people, if not the cliche-ish plot. I think the main draw with that movie was the effects -- the visuals and the sound.
I understand good plots can be reused, but this was such a blatant ripoff of pocahontas it made me ill. Mandatory epic WETA workshop battle at the end. Because an epic battle is the ONLY way to solve things. Everyone was like, "oh, its so beautiful," which it was, and it was very well done, but do they never play video games? Jake Sully: "Don't fear, I will save you because I have made my way into all of your hearts and can take advantage of all the apparent plot holes." Convenient "make everyone happy" ending. "Its a story about blue people, no one's ever done that before!" Apparently no one reads fantasy or sci-fi books, either.
What about plots like "do these artificial bodies we've created actually have feelings? Will they themselves fight back against the ones controlling them in order to protect a home inbred in their DNA?" or "I have seen war, and I have seen destruction. I know the terrible power from these sky people. If we choose to fight them, it may be a futile battle. Will you still follow me?"
Okay, maybe I'm a little harsh and cynical, but I thought sherlock holmes was much better. It had a plot, it had witty banter, and honestly, while the visual effects were on the other side of the range of saturation, the entire thing was very well done. And I am somewhat glad of the new horizons he may have opened up in what people will accept and watch as far as a movie, mostly just cause I plan to take advantage of that at some point (bwahahaha!) But in my opinion, its just not the masterpiece everyone is making it out to be. Once again, though, thats my opinion, and I have a tendency to see many things in a very different perspective than most people.
I totally agree about the plot. I guess I've simply lowered my standards these past few years with the book-to-movie failures and the other we're-trying-too-hard movies like Transformers. With the exceptiong being, *maybe*, Dark Knight. But even that one had some problems. Or maybe it was just Bale. XD
I STILL have not seen SH. Mom and I want to. Really do. But when you have a little sibling that can't stand movies with a rating higher than PG, you have a problem. One of these days, though, I SHALL see it.... (meaning, most likely, when it's up for rent. lol) SH did look pretty wicked. Trailers were the bomb, anyway. That's gonna mean something, right?
As for having a different perspective, that's completely fine with me. Some people just hate the bandwagon. (Myself included. I just tend to make myself seem 'indifferent' in the event that I encounter somebody stuck on board, hehe.) I know how it can be. A lot of people don't understand me when I try explaining a different perspective. Devil's Advocate is my other name, I suppose.
Before I go on again I just wanna say its really fun conversing with someone as into this as I am!
As for ugly pokemon, I feel that some of em seem ugly at first but start to grow on you and become cool. I see Venusaur mewtwo and gyarados. Of course some just stay ugly like likitung magikarp and weezing
Hey, just curious but whats your favorite pokemon? I tend to favor charizard from R/B/Y series(I have favorites from every gen.). Its a little stereotypical I know but its a dragon and its Better looking than dragonite.
