Artist's Comments

I like Yuugioh, I honestly do, but I get sick of seeing art of mou hitori no Yuugi that have nothing to do with ancient egypt. So I added some historical accuracy to this one. Though I'll admit my own inaccuracy: the Giza plateu IS a plateu, and is nowhere near this close to the Nile. The background just needed it though, and it goes with one of the symbols in the picture. See how many of them you can name. (hint: there are TWO in the picture title!)

Prismacolor pencil.

10 minute edit: fixed up sky/clouds and colours in general.

There are three types of people. Those who makes things happen, those who watch things happen, and those who wonder what happened.

It looks superb but I can't find the symbols probably because I'm retarted...

no, you just have to know a bit about Egyptian mythology. I'll give away the two in the title now (since they're in the title they're kind of obvious) The name 'pharoh' means (and is written in glyph) as 'great house.' The egyptians also believed that the pharoh was the sun of Ra, the sun god (Osiris) and when he died he became Ra. The pyramids were to the west of the Nile because the sun sets in the west, so thats where souls (kaa . . . or maybe its baa. I get those mixed up) went to become Ra. The west is the land of the dead; so Mou hitori no Yuugi is the pharoh of the land beyond the dead. Fitting considering he's 3000 years old . . . .
