DONT' YOU DARE NOT FULL VIEW THIS! It doesn't work small at all!
I apologize right away, because this is a freaking huge file. But I couldn't shrink it any more without losing the story. Thats right, you have to "read" this one, top to bottom.
Sometimes you really feel like the odds are this overwhelming, though . . . not just the evil in this world, the chaos and conflict and death, the hunger, the pain . . . but even your own battles, the despair in your own life . . .
But sometimes, at the very bottom . . .
You get bonus points if you recognize the "modernization" of this story . . .
The non-painted images are photos from my trip to Germany/Normandy and pages from my comic "Spitfire."

I would offer up a plea for favorites, but I don't think I really want to be that person. Its always frustrating that even after what, six years, I'm still just an obscure little person on this giant site . . . . I suppose my art is only mediocre, but its improving all the time. But if popularity was all I was concerned about, I think that would make me a terrible person. I love drawing what I draw, and I thank everyone that does watch me, because getting a little feedback is always good for an artists heart! I just wish DA wasn't set up like a popularity contest . . .
regardless, good luck to all of you who entered, though I certainly have my opinions on "good versus evil," there are a lot of amazing entries out there. Its true, though, that as humans, we're obsessed with the concept of 'versus.' Everything has its antithesis. Seeing this more clearly . . . perhaps that is what really is meant to be seen from this contest.
I'm not even trying to search for words that can express what I'm feeling... I'm Russian but I live in Germany for 10 years and I'm glad there's no criticism of the modern Germany. It's offending to get racist comments just because of the country one lives in... even if it's online. Today, Germany is a modern and liberal country and I couldn't feel more welcome and at home. Even after the Holocaust there was still hope for Germany and this hope was not disappointed... Thanks again for the art
in reality, every people group is responsible for hating another, for killing and discrimination and slavery. We only point at Nazis because they were the most visible. But communist russia, or mid 19th century america . . .
We're all human. Its what we choose to do with this humanity.
my goodness...it's very rare that i look at certain art pieces and actually feel something, like a twinge of an emotion that i can't explain, only to ponder about it long enough...but this certainly hit the spot. i'm even having a hard time trying to express how magnificent this is XD but i will say this:
even if you can't really see anyone's faces, the emotion in this is so deep. i especially like the bottom of the picture, though. to me, it shows that even in the darkest of situations, there is always hope. not quite sure if that's what it represented to you, though o.o there are a lot of ways to look at something and mistake it for something else.
You nailed it, spot on . . . . . its the modernization of "pandora's box," after all teh suffering and pain, the last thing that remained in the box was a small bird, "hope." That one force, against all the darkness . . . .
I love the story!
